Iris Mechielsen is a Dutch photographer
In her images she captures the places and people around her. Typical for her work is that it represents a sense of desire, created by a characteristic use of light, isolating a detail from it’s environment, or simply by capturing the stillness of a moment. Using an analogue camera contributes to the ambiance she wants to show.
In December 2011 Iris Mechielsen graduated at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam. Since then she worked on several projects which have been presented in various exhibitions, nationally and internationally.
In 2012 her work was nominated by the Photo Academy Award. In addition, some of her images were published in the book ‘NEW 2012’, a catalogue in which new Dutch photography talent is presented.
